A Call to Support Britain’s Young Motorcycle Heroes
For more than 50 years, the Imps Motorcycle Display Team has been a source of pride, excitement, and opportunity for young riders across the UK. Based in Hackney, East London, the team has travelled the country — and the world — performing jaw‑dropping routines that showcase discipline, precision, and the thrill of motorcycling.
But the Imps have always been about more than stunts. They’ve been a lifeline for hundreds of young people, providing structure, skills, and a sense of belonging through the discipline of motorcycle riding. Many of their members come from challenging backgrounds, and the team has offered them a chance to build confidence, find purpose, and be part of something extraordinary.
A Sudden Pause – But Not the End
On 1 August 2025, the Imps announced that they are cancelling all future performances with immediate effect. Following an internal review, the team found several critical issues that must be addressed before they can safely continue their work.
While this is a heavy blow, it’s important to stress: this is a pause, not the end.
In their own words:
“These are not easy fixes. They require time, care, and thoughtful reflection. We need to ensure that when the Imps return, they do so stronger than ever — honouring the legacy of our founder, Roy Pratt MBE, and the values that have kept this team going for half a century.”
Why This Matters
The Imps are not just another display team. They’re a living piece of British motorcycle culture, one that has shaped the lives of countless riders and thrilled audiences from local school fairs to international military tattoos.
Losing them would mean more than losing a performance group — it would mean losing a grassroots programme that gives kids purpose, keeps them off the streets, and introduces them to the camaraderie of biking.
How You Can Help
A petition has been launched to help secure the Imps’ future. It’s calling for support to protect this vital organisation and ensure it has the time and resources it needs to rebuild.
By adding your name, you’re sending a clear message: the Imps matter, and we want to see them ride again.
Our Turn to Give Back
The Imps have spent decades lifting up young riders, creating opportunities, and thrilling audiences. Now it’s our turn to lift them.
Whether you sign the petition, share their story, or simply talk about them in your local biking circles — every bit of support helps keep this incredible legacy alive.
Let’s make sure that one of Britain’s most inspiring motorcycle teams isn’t lost to history.
They’ve kept the wheels turning for generations. Let’s help keep them rolling.
