For me this was the first scooter rally of 2026 and one for me to fully test myself, Phoenix my Vespa GTS 300 and the camping gear I have been putting together over the last few months for the adventure from London to Rome end of June 2026.

Setting off early on Saturday 2nd May in an attempt to get to Tenby Rugby Ground, set up the Tarp and join in the ride around Tenby.

Unfortunately I missed the ride out as i had my Beeline II set to NON MOTORWAYS which was not an issue at the biggening as I know my way to the M4 and can easily manage the straight line to The Prince Of Wale bridge.

It was when switching on the Beeline II that my trip took on any other day an awesome ride through the Welsh countryside with is gorgeous country roads, twisty roads and many sign campaigning against what I assume is a local threat of new electricity pillions.

After breaking out of the country roads i noticed a sign for the M4 on my left, it was then I realised the Beeline II settings had been left where I normally have them.

But signs for Tenby guided my way into town.

With thanks to a couple at a petrol garage in Tenby who pointed the way to the grounds I finally made it, 280 miles clocked.

After paying my rent for the night I rode cautiously through the mass of scooters and people who I now know where getting ready for the ride out around Tenby.

After a bit of “off roading” my pitch for the night was selected and Hotel Carrera setup ready for the rain that was on its way for us all that night.

Using what is my favourite setup known either as a Half Foresters or closed back A Frame and with my cot on legs fitting inside no problem at all, I was ready to have a walk around the stalls, a visit to the cafe for something to eat and grab a couple of pints of Guinness.

My Canon AE1 with Kodak Gold loaded got a work out taking pictures of the scooters that were left after the main thrust departed for their ride around town.

Got chatting with some nice people about scooters and a band who were playing that night in town as part of the rallies entertainment which was cool and a great way to spend time before the rain came in.

For a while I found comfort in the bar before braving the rain, no jacket as left that in the tent, protecting my camera with my polo shirt on my way back to Hotel Carrera.

I gave heading into town a miss and like many others settled in for an early one watching a movie before falling off to sleep to the romantic sound of rain drops falling on the tarp.

But the romantic dream was interrupted most of the night by guests to the left and right of me snoring as in a competition who could be the loudest lol.

My Oxford -18db ear plugs helped drown that chorus out and after working out my SungPak jungle sleeping bag worked better as a quilt when fully opened, I had a great sleep for the rest for the night.

Waking at around 05:30 a quick weather check advised me that I did not have long before rain was once again going to visit us.

The ladies in the café were opening at 06:30 to offer us campers a nice early breakfast so breaking down Hotel Carrera was a mission successfully achieved in minimal time.

Fully loaded I said my good byes to others hitting the road early and rode up to the cafe, had breakfast, mulled over the true upgrade the GTS310 is over my 300 with an owner which is always good to hear when your thinking about an upgrade (cough cough) and head off home.

This time I made sure my Beeline was set to inc motorways which overall cut an hour off my journey home.

Summary.

Overall the ride to join in at the Tenby Scooter Rally 2026 was a success but a couple of additions will be made namely another pillow as for me one is not enough

I might also pack the air mattress I have as although the cot and mat where ok a little extra comfort want hurt especially for ride 300 miles a day for 4 days down to Rome means as much good sleep will be needed.

There was a “NO FIRES” rule so could not test out my Trangia that will be in another video from my garden on the next dry day we have.

As of writing 04.05.2026 I am sending the film off to be developed and as soon as I get the scans I will put them here for you to enjoy.

Thank you to the organisers of the Tenby Scooter rally and I look forward to riding to another rally soon but not until Rome is in the bag.

I wish you all well and safe journeys

Dave x
