{"id":2271,"date":"2026-07-15T07:33:03","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T07:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davesphoto.co.uk\/?p=2271"},"modified":"2026-07-15T07:34:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T07:34:34","slug":"vespa-80th-anniversary-in-rome-daves-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davesphoto.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/07\/15\/vespa-80th-anniversary-in-rome-daves-adventure\/","title":{"rendered":"Vespa 80th Anniversary in Rome &#8211; Dave&#8217;s Adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>and what an adventure it was.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My adventure to Rome for Vespa&#8217;s 80th Anniversary celebrations was a, for me, a trip of a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over a year in the planning to get Phoenix my Vespa GTS 300 HPE up to to match fitness for the 2500 mile plus return trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those who have not seen the epic video yet here is a link to my youtube channel where you can see the epic trip while having a nice cup of coffee at your desk<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dave&amp;apos;s Italian Job -  The Vespa Goody Bag Heist - UK to Rome and back\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tltf74V1DQU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was <strong>very HOT riding<\/strong> down the spine of Europe and back again but as you can see from the video above a thourghly worthwhile adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The BAD bit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me the saddest part of the whole trip was not having the time to slow right down and use my Hasselblad cm 500, i did take a few shots but nearly as much as I hoped. A lesson learned and one I will be correcting now we are back in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The GOOD bit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I did shot a roll of <strong>Kodak Gold 200<\/strong> on my <strong>Canon AE-1<\/strong> and here are the scans of those shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scenic
