Recently I went to the wonderful Hill Farm who offer various types of camping facilities including tent pitches, so I took them up on a spot to test my gear out before the UK scooter rallies start.
note: I am not sponsored by any brand I mention here or you see in my videos and all items have been researched & paid for myself.
To much gear.
One thing that was obvious that I have bought to much gear and or items I have but easy double up to cover the job I bought something to deal with.
My Fjallraven Stubben rucksack managed well and its party trick, and a very cool one, is that its built in birch frame makes it a strong seat to use for a break on treks or whatever your doing.
After discounting some items I realised I need a larger rucksack, i know sounds weird but bare with me, and losing the seat option was not a problem.
Got to admit I do like the Fjallraven products so had a scan of their website to see if they had an offer and bot did they.
The Fjallraven SIGI 48 stood out and one thing that really pricked my interest was the large bag that is the lid of the rucksack.
Could it be large enough to stash my 3×3 tart for rapid deloyment.
Spoiler alert, yes it certainly can.

Having a zip at the botton allows me to unpack my sleep system once I have setup my tarp keeping it dry if the rain have cometh.
A great thing that I did not bargain on was fitting the cot, that has replaced my Stubben and Helinox ground chair (unused), inside the Sigi and still room for more “important” kit.
What’s in the sack now?
This is the list of kit in the Sigi which I can not see changing, I think lol.
- Jungle sleeping bag
- Fleece insert for the sleeping bag
- blow up pillow
- cot
- fold up trekking poles x 2
- 2.5 UK Army MRE’s
- Bag of tent pegs & guy lines
- SIGI blue rain cover in zip pocket of lid
- 3×3 tarp stashed in the lid
Swapped the exterior pockets from the Stubben to the SIGI which hold.
- Trangia based cooking system
- Steel flask
- Trangia fuel bootle
- empty for the moment….
Cameras Bag.
In the video you see me use my Lowepro BP450 tactical rucksack which is ok but I have and have now used a better option now all my “Hotel Carrera” kits fits in the Sigi.
Tenba Fulton v2 has been recommissioned for my camera gear as it can now fit either on top of the Sigi, in the footwell of Phoenix, my Vespa GTS 300 or on my back.

In reality the Tenba Fulton V2 will only be used for Rome as I really want to tack as many photos on my two film cameras, where for UK rallies I will only use one film camera so a small camera bag will be fine.
Why all this rejiggling?
If you own a Vespa GTS or any of the newer Vespa you will know the petrol cap is under the seat.
I learned on the 600+ mile Daves Day ride that having kit on the seat made for time consuming petrol stops so doing your best to keeping the seat clear is a bonus.
Now all the gear I will take on any ride that requires it will be stored on my rear and front racks, with my Oxford roll top bag storing my clothes and toiletries on the front being light and not effecting steering.
For now this setup seems to tick the boxes I need and I look forward to using it all on UK rallies and especially Rome in June 2026.
Your continued support is been amazing & I sincerely thank you.
